My dial-up provider offered a free domain name and I choose jumpstation.co.uk, that was in 1999
It started as just a place to dump my mostly Java based projects at the time but grew to be an exhibition hall of what ever I was working on.
Java applets gave way to Dreamcast and VMU programming, then JavaScript and Linux information. On to Sliverlight and blender.
I had the idea to provide a service via random links but the internet changed and it did not really work. I am trying to bring it back though random links
Eventually I realised that I was only updating my flog and really that should be the focus, hence the new homepage.
It is very important to me that this site is not covered in ads and that I do not invite vistors that have no interest in what I am offering. If you are seeing ads, they are either my own somewhat satirical creation or a third part has injected them into your session and you have bigger problems.
Until the press around the 20th anniversary I had never heard of "jumpstation" as a search engine.
It appears that the creators never secured the domain name and never intended to.
In 2002 the term "blog" was unheard of or at least not common, however people were starting to use "Web log" and I liked the reference to worthlessness of "Flogging a dead horse". There was another meaning implying much the same.
As the hard to read discalaimer notes "This page is by me for me" as such I never intended the flog to be anything other than a simple list of things I wanted to rememeber.
"I'm Batman!", no! wait, I have many names but thats not one of them.
This space intentionally left blank, for when I need to post a CV
That is nice for you but, this is not a FAQ
