I recently got a Sweex IP network camera JA200010 http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/ProductInfo.asp?WebProductID=158949 as a cheap web cam.
I had been looking at the AXIS network cameras but they were well over 100 as there was no need for usb drivers etc.
So I was a bit miffed to find you had to use windows only software to configure and ACCESS the camera.
Thats right, to see the images on a network camera (has own http server) you needed windows and IE5 or greater !
Annoying as this seems there is some method to their madness, the IE activeX plugin appears to be designed for more than just viewing the images, recording, on the fly modifications etc.
Still I did find a way round it, simply visit ADDRESS/Jpeg/CamImg.jpg where ADDRESS is the address of your IP cam, it will show the last taken image.
Trying to set this up in IE is no fun either (winxp SP2), the control is unsigned and no amount of changing security levels will help you, the answer is to goto the advance options and find the tick box to allow unsigned code(well hidden).
http://www.sweex.com also has the latest software and firmware.
NEVER EVER HIT THE "User Authentication Required" set button without explicitly setting the administrators password, locks you out no way back in but a hard reset (which needs 10-15 seconds not 5 prescribed).

I said http://www.jumpstation.co.uk/blend/saltshaker.html was complete, well it wasn't (no usage section) but it is now ;)
The interview went well maybe I will have a job soon.
I have been working on a new secret project, expect more info soon (hint is locate on the saltshaker page).
You may have noticed I have not reviewed many books of DVDs this year, well on the book front I am still working on the second part of my http://www.lip.org exam.
As for DVDs, you remember the bulk load of anime DVDs I brought back from America ? No ? well include was a seven disk box set.
"Steel Angel Kurumi" is four disks for series one, two disks for series two and then one special "Encore" disk.
Series on is set in 1925 Japan, with the army securing a secret project. Before they can do so a young mystic accidently activates the first Steel Angel and finds Kurumi is now devoted to him and refuses to let him alone.
Through the following episodes other Steel Angels are activated and strange love triangles are created between just about all the main characters one way or another.
Although some times amusing the action is rarely "funny" with the last few episodes becoming VERY dark indeed.
The "Encore" DVD then has four final chapters that are much more lighted hearted and fun continuing on directly from the "and they all lived happily ever after" ending of series one.
Series two is a bit strange as it is set in 2000 with new characters and "reawakened" old ones, this is a bit more run of the mill, but actually does do a good job of finishing the story off (if you wait until the end).
(reminded me heavily of "Project A-KO".

Visit http://www.xbox.com if you have an xbox.
"Microsoft is providing new power cords at no charge to replace the cords that originally came with some Xbox consoles. You will need your Serial Number and Manufacture date to verify if your Xbox Console requires a replacement cord"
http://www.jumpstation.co.uk/blend/saltshaker.html is complete.
I have (finally) reach Slayer level 9 on Halo2, now if i had a safe power cord I could go kick butt !
Another interview today, sounds interesting.

Start of a new month, the job I thought I was 100% guarantied to get fell through, maybe they followed my email domain back to my website, maybe I should re-fit the place ?!
Had my last working day at the last job, but they were really good about helping me try and find a new job, just wish I had started looking sooner.
I have the final piece of the blender python pie, but that will not be released until at the earliest tonight, depending how much time I spend dealing with recruitment agencies.
I bout a load of cheap bits from http://www.maplin.co.uk to make a simple (but I hope working) missile control box, nice switches LED buttons and the such, but i t might be harder than I thought to get something decent.
Useful as a hard to push reset button ?
"time is the eternal flame we burn in" so I had better bake some muffins !
Not really into muffins ...
